How to increase traffic to a new Lazada store

Someone asked this exact question on Lazada’s Philippines community forum: a brand new store, listings up, traffic near zero, no ad budget, just trying to figure out where the first buyers come from. If that’s you, this is the guide.

New stores start from nothing on Lazada. The algorithm leans heavily on sales history, chat response rate, and shipping performance, none of which a week-old store has. So your first visits won’t come from ranking well in search. They come from a pool Lazada calls “Guided Traffic”, algorithm-assigned exposure through recommendation carousels, voucher pages, and campaign listings, distinct from search and the main thing a new store can actually influence without spending on ads.

This is for sellers who just opened a Lazada store, or are about to, with zero or near-zero ad budget, wanting a repeatable process rather than a one-off trick. By the end you’ll have your shop set up for the new-seller traffic boosts, enrolled in the free marketing tools most new sellers skip, and a sense of which account-health numbers to watch so traffic doesn’t dry up once it starts.

what you need

  • a live Lazada Seller Center account, verified and in good standing, not under a live penalty or suspension
  • at least 5-10 listings published with photos, so there’s something for Lazada to actually promote
  • your payout method fully set up in Seller Center; campaigns and vouchers won’t activate on an incomplete payout profile
  • 1-2 hours to go through your listing titles and categories properly, this isn’t a five-minute job past a handful of SKUs
  • the Lazada Seller Center app on a phone, since chat response time gets graded on evenings and weekends too, not just desk hours
  • no ad budget required for anything below

step by step

Menu names below are current as of September 2026. Lazada reshuffles Seller Center’s layout occasionally, so if a path doesn’t match what you see, search the setting name instead of following the click-path literally.

1. finish your shop profile completely

Go to Seller Center > Shop > Shop Profile and fill in every field: logo, banner, shop description, and the basic shop policies for returns and shipping. Some early traffic boosts for new sellers gate behind profile completion, not just having products live.

Expected output: your shop profile shows 100%, or close to it, on the seller dashboard’s completion meter.

If it breaks: if the percentage won’t move past 80-90%, there’s usually a required field buried in a sub-tab, a pickup address or shop location field is a common one. Check every tab under Shop Settings individually rather than trusting the dashboard prompt to catch everything.

2. rewrite your listing titles for Lazada’s search, not for humans first

In-platform search matches on keywords in the title and the backend Key Product Attributes more than on flowery copy. Structure: brand if you have one, product type, key attribute (size, colour, material), use case. “Stainless Steel Tumbler 500ml Leakproof Insulated Water Bottle” beats “Amazing Tumbler You’ll Love.”

Expected output: your product surfaces when you search its core keyword inside the app, from a fresh search not skewed by your own purchase history.

If it breaks: if the product still doesn’t show up after the rewrite, check that you’ve picked the most specific matching category, not a parent one. Miscategorised listings get buried regardless of title quality. I’ll be honest: how much weight the algorithm gives title keywords versus category match isn’t published, this is pattern-matching from listings across categories, not a confirmed formula.

3. fill in every backend attribute and specification field

Past the title, each category has a specifications block, material, dimensions, wattage, whatever applies. Most new sellers leave half of it blank. Filled-out specs feed search matching and the “you may also like” carousel on other sellers’ product pages, one of the Guided Traffic sources you don’t control directly but can still influence.

Expected output: no blank or “not specified” fields for anything genuinely known.

If it breaks: some category templates carry irrelevant fields you can’t fill honestly, a clothing attribute on a home good, for instance. Leave only those blank. Don’t guess values to force 100% completion, it can trigger a listing quality flag on review.

4. turn on every voucher type available to a new store

Under Marketing > Vouchers, set up a store-wide voucher, a flat percentage or currency amount off, low enough it doesn’t wipe your margin, and a first-time-buyer voucher if your account has access to it. Vouchers do two things: they get pulled onto Lazada’s voucher and deals pages, a traffic source in its own right, and they nudge undecided browsers into buying.

Expected output: the voucher shows “active” and within a day or two starts appearing on your product page with the strikethrough discount badge.

If it breaks: if the voucher option is greyed out, your payout or business verification is likely incomplete. Check Account Health for an open verification task before troubleshooting the voucher itself.

5. join every campaign your account is eligible for

Check Marketing > Campaigns for the current calendar. Lazada runs recurring ones, the monthly double-date sales, 9.9, 10.10, and smaller category-specific pushes. New sellers can usually join the smaller ones immediately even without eligibility for the flagship dates yet. Campaign participation puts your listing on a dedicated campaign page with direct app traffic, separate from organic search.

Expected output: your product appears under the campaign’s product list, usually with a small event badge.

If it breaks: if no campaigns show up to join, your account may be too new, some need a minimum number of days live or a minimum order count. Check back weekly instead of assuming you’re permanently excluded.

6. work toward LazMall or Lazada Choice status if your category qualifies

Both badges get preferential placement in search and category browsing. Not every seller or category qualifies on day one, LazMall in particular has brand authorisation and account-standing requirements. I’ve written up the qualification path separately: how Lazada sellers qualify for LazMallOne covers what to check before applying.

Expected output: an application option appears under your shop type settings, or you receive an invitation directly.

If it breaks: no application path showing usually means you’re below the tenure or sales threshold. Worth revisiting in a month or two rather than forcing it on day one.

7. keep your chat response rate and account health numbers above threshold

Lazada’s algorithm factors in chat response rate, cancellation rate, and late shipment rate when deciding how much organic and Guided Traffic exposure a store gets. A store replying fast gets shown more, a store that goes quiet for a day gets suppressed even with strong listings. I go through the mechanics in how to improve chat response rate across stores, which matters even more once you’re running more than one storefront.

Expected output: Account Health shows chat response rate and response time in the “good” band, not “needs improvement.”

If it breaks: if the rate won’t climb even though you’re replying quickly during the day, check what hours you’re actually graded on, Lazada scores against a rolling window that includes evenings and weekends. This is where solo sellers slip most.

Lazada does credit visits that arrive via a direct store or product link shared outside the app, on Instagram, Facebook, or a WhatsApp broadcast to existing customers. This isn’t a Lazada-native source, it’s you routing traffic in, but it compounds with everything above because it also lifts sales velocity, which feeds the algorithm. Meta’s Business Help Center and the WhatsApp Business site are worth a skim if you haven’t set either up before.

Expected output: a measurable bump in visits on days you post, visible under Business Advisor > Traffic Overview.

If it breaks: if clicks aren’t converting to visits, make sure you’re sharing the actual product or store deep link generated inside Seller Center, not a generic search URL swallowed by app redirect behaviour.

common pitfalls

  • treating vouchers as a one-time setup. A voucher that quietly expired three weeks ago and was never renewed takes you off the deals pages it was earning you a spot on. Check Marketing > Vouchers monthly.
  • letting stock hit zero on your best-performing SKU mid-campaign. The campaign traffic still lands on the listing, sees “out of stock,” and bounces, hurting standing for the next campaign cycle too.
  • running the seller account from wherever’s convenient, home wifi one day, a coworking space the next. Inconsistent login environments are the kind of thing fraud and security checks watch for, and a flagged login can trigger extra verification that blocks campaign sign-ups or voucher creation right when you need them. If you’re managing the store from a phone that moves around a lot, cloudf.one rents a real Android phone on dedicated hardware in Singapore, with a persistent Singapore mobile IP, controlled from your browser, so the login environment stays the same every time. Singapore-only, so it only helps if your store and account activity are Singapore-based.
  • trying to run a second shop on the same product line to “double” exposure. Lazada’s multi-account rules restrict operating multiple stores under undisclosed common ownership in the same market, check your country’s seller terms before doing this. It’s a policy violation, not a growth hack.
  • checking total visits and stopping there. Business Advisor breaks visits down by source, search, recommendation, campaign, direct, and that breakdown is the only way to know which step above is actually working for your store.

scaling this

At 10x, going from near-zero to a steady trickle of daily visits, the work is mostly manual. You reply to every chat yourself, set up each voucher and campaign entry by hand, check Business Advisor once a week. Solo-sustainable.

At 100x, chat volume and campaign management stop being a spare-time task. This is usually where sellers bring on a second person, most often for chat coverage during hours they can’t cover themselves. Set them up with proper role-based access rather than sharing your login, Seller Center supports sub-accounts for exactly this; how to give staff access in Lazada Seller Center covers the setup. Account health also stops being just your responsibility at this point, worth tracking against how Lazada compares to Shopee and TikTok Shop on the same metrics, laid out in account health on Shopee, Lazada and TikTok Shop compared.

At 1000x, you’re not running one store’s traffic strategy anymore, you’re running an operation across SKUs, campaigns, and multiple channels at once. Order and inventory sync across those channels becomes the bottleneck before traffic does, a listing that’s suddenly popular on Lazada but can’t fulfil fast enough across Shopee and TikTok Shop too will tank its own account metrics. Different problem, different tools, covered in best multichannel order management tools for SEA sellers.
