How Shopee sellers handle J&T Express drop-off and delivery issues
The first time you hand a parcel to J&T Express as a Shopee seller, it feels like there are a dozen ways to get it wrong. Which button do you press, what happens if the branch says no, and who do you chase when the tracking sits on “picked up” for four days. A thread on r/ShopeePH asks about exactly this kind of J&T delivery worry, and the short answer is that most problems come from a handful of repeat causes: a bad waybill, a bad address, a missed drop-off window, or a parcel that was never scanned.
This tutorial is for small and mid-size Shopee sellers who ship a few to a few hundred parcels a week and use J&T Express as a courier, mostly in the Philippines. I run marketplace operations out of Singapore, so some detail comes from sellers who ship in the Philippines. The courier screens and rules change, so treat anything marked “as of October 2026” as a snapshot and check Seller Centre before you rely on it.
By the end you should be able to do a clean first drop-off, know what each tracking status means, and have a routine for catching a stuck parcel on day two instead of day ten.
What you need
- a Shopee seller account with Seller Centre access and logistics channels enabled for J&T Express (check under shipping settings, the courier list depends on your shop and region)
- a printer, or a plan to print at a shop. thermal label printers work best but a normal printer on A4 or A6 works too
- packaging: poly mailers or boxes, tape, bubble wrap for fragile items, a marker
- a scale. courier charges and Shopee’s shipping fee rules depend on weight and size, so guess-weighing costs you money
- the address of your nearest J&T branch or drop-off point and its opening hours. look it up on the J&T Express Philippines site or call the branch before your first trip
- a phone to photograph each parcel before it goes
- a simple tracking sheet (Google Sheets or Excel) with order number, tracking number, date shipped, and last known status
- cost: the packaging is a few pesos per parcel and the shipping fee is deducted or charged under Shopee’s logistics rules. I’m not quoting rates as they vary by weight, zone and programme
If you are still deciding between Shopee’s own fulfilment, courier drop-off and warehouse options, read fulfilment options for Shopee, Lazada and TikTok Shop explained first. It will tell you whether drop-off is even the right model for your volume.
Step by step
1. Check your order is ready to ship
Action: open Seller Centre, go to My Shipment or To Ship, and confirm the order is paid, the buyer address is complete, and the item is in stock. Open the order and read the address line by line. Look for a missing barangay, a missing unit number, or a phone number that is clearly wrong.
Expected output: an order in “To Ship” with a full address and a working buyer contact.
If it breaks: message the buyer through Shopee chat and ask them to confirm the address before you ship. Do not guess. If chat is something you struggle to keep up with, the guide on managing customer chat across marketplaces covers saved replies that make this quick.
2. Arrange shipment and choose drop-off
Action: click Arrange Shipment on the order. Shopee shows the shipping methods available to your shop. Pick drop-off (you bring the parcel to the branch) rather than pickup (a rider collects), unless pickup is what you want. As of October 2026 the available choices vary by shop and region, so the screen you see may not match another seller’s.
Expected output: a shipment status of “Processing” or “Shipment arranged”, and a tracking number that starts to appear on the order.
If it breaks: if the J&T option is missing, check your shipping settings and the item’s weight and dimensions. Items over a courier’s limit are usually filtered out of that courier’s option. Fix the product weight and size first.
3. Print the waybill (airway bill)
Action: click Print Waybill (sometimes called Print AWB or Shipping Label). Download the PDF and print it at the size your printer supports. Check that the barcode is dark and complete, not faded or cut at the edge.
Expected output: a label with the buyer’s name, address, the J&T tracking number, and a scannable barcode.
If it breaks: a barcode that will not scan is the most common reason a branch refuses a parcel. Reprint with darker settings, and never hand-copy a tracking number onto a plain sticker.
4. Pack the parcel so the label survives
Action: pack the item, seal every edge, and stick the waybill flat on the largest face of the parcel. Do not fold it over a seam and do not cover it with wrinkled tape. Write the order number in marker on a hidden side so you can match a parcel to an order later. Weigh the packed parcel and compare it to what you declared on the listing.
Expected output: a sealed parcel, a flat label, and a weight within a small margin of your listing weight.
If it breaks: if the packed weight is well over the declared weight, fix the listing weight. Repeated mismatches can lead to shipping fee adjustments. See Shopee’s seller help centre for the current weight dispute process.
5. Photograph the parcel before it leaves
Action: take one photo of the sealed parcel with the label visible, and one of the contents before sealing. Save them in a folder named by order number.
Expected output: two photos per order, stored where you can find them in under a minute.
If it breaks: photograph at least anything fragile or valuable. These photos are your evidence if a buyer claims the item was damaged or missing.
6. Do the drop-off
Action: bring the parcels to the J&T branch before the cut-off time. The branch staff scan each waybill and hand you either a receipt or a confirmation. For a first drop-off, go early in the day and ask the staff whether there is a daily cut-off for same-day processing, because a parcel dropped after cut-off is often scanned the next day.
Expected output: each parcel is scanned in front of you, and the Shopee order status moves to “Shipped” or the tracking shows an “arrived at / received by” J&T scan within a few hours.
If it breaks: if the branch refuses a parcel, ask why. Usual reasons are an unreadable barcode, restricted items, bad packaging, or the branch not accepting that Shopee label type. Fix the stated reason and return. Do not leave parcels with a guard or a counter without a scan.
7. Check the first tracking scan
Action: the same day or the next morning, open the order in Seller Centre and check tracking. You want to see at least one J&T scan after your drop-off.
Expected output: a status update showing the parcel received at origin or sorting facility.
If it breaks: no scan after 24 hours is worth acting on. Message J&T through their customer channel on the J&T Express Philippines site with your tracking number, and keep your branch receipt and parcel photo handy. Also open a ticket in Seller Centre if the order page offers it.
8. Track stuck parcels with a simple sheet
Action: keep a tracking sheet and check it once a day. This script flags any parcel that has been shipped for more than three days with no “delivered” status. It reads a CSV you export or maintain yourself, with columns order_id, tracking_no, shipped_date (YYYY-MM-DD) and status. Column names are my own convention.
import csv
from datetime import date, datetime
LIMIT_DAYS = 3
today = date.today()
with open("shipments.csv", newline="", encoding="utf-8") as f:
for row in csv.DictReader(f):
if row["status"].strip().lower() == "delivered":
continue
shipped = datetime.strptime(row["shipped_date"], "%Y-%m-%d").date()
age = (today - shipped).days
if age > LIMIT_DAYS:
print(f'{row["order_id"]} {row["tracking_no"]} {age} days, status: {row["status"]}')
Expected output: a short list of orders that need a follow up. An empty output means nothing is overdue by your own rule.
If it breaks: the usual failure is a date in the wrong format. Fix the column in the sheet. Pick a limit that suits your route, since remote areas take longer than metro ones.
9. Handle a delivery attempt failure
Action: when tracking shows a failed attempt, the buyer was usually unreachable or the address was wrong. Message the buyer in Shopee chat the same day, confirm the address and phone number, and ask them to expect a call from the rider. Then contact J&T with the tracking number and ask for a re-delivery.
Expected output: a new delivery attempt scan within a day or two, and a buyer who knows to pick up the call.
If it breaks: after repeated failed attempts the parcel is returned. Don’t cancel the order yourself while a return is in motion. Follow the return-to-seller flow on Shopee so the dispute is documented.
10. Escalate a lost or damaged parcel
Action: if a parcel has no movement for many days, or the buyer says it arrived damaged, gather the evidence: branch receipt, parcel photos, tracking history, buyer chat. Open the case through Seller Centre and the relevant Shopee help route, and file a claim with J&T using their official contact channel.
Expected output: a case number from Shopee and a reference from J&T.
If it breaks: if a claim is rejected, read the stated reason and check it against the Shopee help centre policy text.
Common pitfalls
- dropping off after the daily cut-off and assuming the parcel was scanned. it often waits until the next day, and that can push you past your handling time
- printing the waybill at low quality. a faint barcode is the number one cause of branch refusals and missing scans in the stories sellers tell
- declaring the wrong weight to look cheaper. it tends to come back as a fee adjustment
- chasing J&T before you have evidence. a message with only “where is my parcel” gets a vague reply, while a message with the tracking number, drop-off date and branch name gets action
- ignoring late-shipment metrics. a pattern of missed handling times and cancelled orders can feed into account health problems, which I cover in why seller accounts get suspended
Scaling this
At around 10 parcels a week, everything above is manual and that is fine. One trip to the branch, one printed batch, a sheet you check each morning.
At around 100 parcels a week, the trip itself becomes the bottleneck. Batch your waybill printing, pack in one block of time, and ask whether pickup is available to your shop so a rider comes to you. Add a second person who can do the branch run.
At around 1000 parcels a week, you are no longer just a seller with a courier, you are running logistics. Talk to your J&T branch or account contact about bulk handover, and look at whether a warehouse or fulfilment partner makes more sense than doing it yourself. This is also when the tracking script above outgrows a CSV. I’d also revisit the fulfilment comparison in the fulfilment options guide at this point. If you are selling in Singapore and registered for GST, the GST basics for Singapore marketplace sellers article covers the tax side, and this is not legal or tax advice.
